Reflection on Course Concepts Essay - 275 Words
Reflection on Course Concepts (Essay Sample) Content: Reflection on Course ConceptsDavid BlowTUI UniversityProf. Alla Adams, MSPH, MSHA, Ph.D.Reflection on Course ConceptsStatistical concepts used in this course include measures of central tendency and variability, such as mean, mode, and median. Mean does the total number of subjects divide the average sum. Median is value in the middle of a set when arranging these values from the lowest to the highest. Mode on the other hand, is the most frequent variable either a brand or product.Another concept learnt is probability, its history, the two main types of probability, and its application in the medicine sector. Probability is a measure of likelihood of an event. These are the chances of an outcome of an event in an experiment. Therefore, probability is the ratio of favorable outcomes of the total number of possible outcomes. Its application in medicine includes fairness in selecting an individual from a list of people for an event such as kidney transplant. It is also a pplicable in sampling the error of a medical trial. Its disadvantage will include the occurrence of a flaw in a randomness of an event.Another concept is hypothesis, hypothesis testing, and its statistical significance and interpretation. A hypothesis is the proposition of association between two or more variables. Hypothesis testing therefore is a test for establishing the extent for this relationship. When the correlation is positive it means variables are moving in the same direction but when they are negative it means they are not directly related.Statistical testing conducts hypothesis testing to determine if there is evidence to support similar characteristics in the sample data. The null hypothesis is main assumption and the test seeks to accept or reject it. In addition, the test requires construction of a normal curve to give a clear ...
